Crying a baby at birth is an indicator that the baby’s lungs start to function. However, it is quite often found that the baby born is not crying. It indicates that there is a health problem in the baby born. In the worse cases, the baby in the womb (fetus) may experience bradycardia, the fetal heart rate is less than 90 per minute at 5-8 weeks’ gestation, could result in a miscarriage. There are several causes of the problems, such as lack of adequate nutrients or oxygen since pregnancy. We develop a smart fetal stethoscope to overcome above the problems. The stethoscope could be used to monitor heart rate and fetal movement in the womb during pregnancy. It detects the health of the fetus through the number of normal kicks and the number of heartbeats for healthy fetuses according to the age of the womb. We hope that the developed system could help to reduce the risk of miscarriage in the fetus.
